Tues 19th Drive to Lata Bayu and the forest reserve at Bukit Hijau

After an early-morning swim and breakfast, I took a quick look at the map and headed west towards Balling and the waterfall at Lata Bayu. I was hoping there would be plenty of water after the recent heavy rainfall.

When I arrived at the car park, there was indeed more water flowing over the cascades than on previous visits, when there had only been smaller streams. I managed to capture a few good images, including some of the local lads enjoying themselves in the water. They were happy for me to take a few action shots

After leaving Lata Bayu, I continued south past Kuala Penang and Binjul, eventually reaching the rather run-down Bukit Hijau recreation park. I stopped for a short walk along Sungai Mempelam.

After a pleasant hour or more exploring the area, I stopped for a picnic lunch before heading back to Penang for dinner. It was a lovely day out.
